Dr. Shannon M. Coen
Originally from Woodbury, Minnesota, Dr. Shannon M. Coen is a bilingual general dentist who finds immense joy in connecting with her patients on a personal level. She considers it a privilege to know their lives, families, and stories.
Every day in the dental office, she learns something new from her patients. Witnessing their growth and being a part of their journey—from high school graduations to weddings and every stage of life—is incredibly fulfilling for her. Dr. Coen prioritizes the value of family, and she extends this philosophy to her patients and fellow team members.
What Inspired Dr. Coen's Dental Career 
Dr. Coen’s journey into dentistry began with her aunt, a dental hygienist, who took care of her as a young patient during her training. Dr. Edlund, her childhood dentist, played a significant role in inspiring her to pursue a career in dentistry. He embodied qualities she admired: sociability, kindness, a genuine love for the profession, and a remarkable work/life balance. She’s always wanted to work closely with people, helping them improve their lives. Dentistry allows her to bring back smiles, alleviate pain, and make dental visits enjoyable.
Education and Experience
Dr. Coen graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in natural sciences from the College of Saint Benedict/St. John’s University in 2004 and earned her DMD from the ATSU Arizona School of Dentistry and Oral Health in 2008. Dr. Coen is proud to have owned her Glendale, AZ, dental practice since 2014.
Hobbies and Interests
Apart from spending cherished moments with her two daughters, friends and family, Dr. Coen indulges in several hobbies, such as traveling, working out, reading, hiking, volunteering, and crafting. She even has a unique passion for creating earrings from recycled credit cards! Here’s another fun tidbit: she has double-jointed fingers, which often surprises those who discover this hidden anomaly.

Julie
Front Office Assistant
Julie has become an integral part of the team since joining the practice in 2014. Her role involves a variety of front office duties, including answering phone calls, checking patients in and out, coordinating insurance, ensuring smooth scheduling, and confirming appointments.
Julie's journey in dentistry began with her education at Apollo College, now known as Carrington College, where she earned her Dental Assistant Diploma. Her passion for dentistry was sparked by her positive experiences with dentists growing up, which left her with happy childhood memories and a desire to contribute to the dental field.
Julie has worked in the dental field since 2006 and alongside Dr. Coen since 2014. Her favorite aspect of her job is the opportunity to connect with patients and be a part of the positive change in their dental health. Julie takes great pride in her work and genuinely enjoys the camaraderie and teamwork of her colleagues.
Outside of her professional life, Julie is a devoted mother to her four boys and loves embarking on road trips and outdoor adventures with them. She has a unique hobby of collecting Starbucks cups and enjoys off-roading with her friends and family. In her leisure time, Julie also enjoys exploring different eateries.
A fun fact about Julie is that she was born and raised in Phoenix. Her love for family, adventure, and her career in dentistry makes her a valuable and cherished member of Dr. Coen's dental team.
Roxana
Dental Assistant
Roxana is one of our skilled dental assistants known for her commitment to providing excellent patient care. Since completing her education and training at West-Mec during her final two years of high school, Roxana has been working in dentistry immediately after graduation in May 2021.
Roxana's interest in the dental field was sparked by the fascinating insights it provides into human health just by examining the mouth. Her curiosity and eagerness to learn have been key motivators in her professional journey. What sets Roxana apart is her genuine passion for meeting and getting to know new people, which makes her role interacting with patients her favorite aspect of the job.
Outside of the dental office, Roxana enjoys spending quality time with friends and family, watching movies, and off-roading. Additionally, Roxana also has a side job where she does eyelash extensions and brow laminations. She loves helping people feel beautiful and confident from the inside out!
Dr Coen is by far the best dentist I have been to! I was a dental assistant for 3 years and every time I come in everyone is so welcoming and knowledgeable! Dr Coen always is such a sweetheart! Anytime I have had an emergency they get me in same day and take care of it! I appreciate this office so much and what they do thank you!
